The A&C Corner site is located on a strip of open land in East Leagon, a residential suburb east of Accra city centre in Ghana. While some restaurants are located in shopping malls across the city, in general most are based in renovated houses. This project seeks to create a greater presence for food-related businesses in a more formal configuration.

To do this, the scheme comprises a new food precinct that hosts a collection of restaurants and food stores in a single location. The design incorporates a large public veranda that suits the tropical climate. The building configuration encourages interaction from visitors who can enjoy the open garden area, covered dining area and children’s playground. Restaurants around the veranda are designed to be double volume, with mezzanine spaces.

Minimalist materials, including raw concrete, wood paneling and glass, combine in clean lines that reduce visual clutter, focusing the visitor’s attention on the food experience.
