The concept for Jikela Music Studio and School balances two essential qualities — openness and enclosure. The public foyer and event space invite the community in, while the recording studios and private garden require acoustic separation and security. This tension is resolved through a bold curved red brick wall that sweeps around the building, forming both a striking street presence and a protective boundary for the creative spaces within.

The patterned screen brickwork filters light and air into the garden while maintaining privacy, doubling as a dramatic backdrop for open-air music events in the sheltered outdoor amphitheatre — a vibrant cultural landmark as much as a place to learn and create.
