The Madison is a twelve-storey high-end residential apartment block in Accra, Ghana. The design challenge was to maximise visibility from the large balcony windows of each unit, while mitigating the intense tropical heat gain. A series of white steel sun screens, strategically positioned across every balcony, form a 'second skin' that shades the façade, reducing the load on air conditioning and cutting electricity consumption without compromising the panoramic views enjoyed by each resident.

The sun screens form a bold checkered pattern that wraps the entire tower, creating a strong sculptural identity unique in Accra's skyline. A generous rooftop terrace crowns the building, while the raised ground floor provides a shaded, active street edge — anchoring The Madison firmly within its lush tropical neighbourhood.
