The Ahimsa Yoga Studio, located in an informal settlement, is intended as a safe haven for women in the community. A cluster of studio pavilions arranged around two central courtyards forms a protective enclosure — turning inward to create a calm, secure environment sheltered from the outside world. The dark, robust exterior presents a strong boundary to the street, while the warm timber entrance and colourful window accents signal a welcoming and nurturing space within.

Each studio is defined by a dramatically pitched roof with a central skylight that floods the practice space with soft, directed natural light from above. The generous timber-floored interiors open onto the sheltered courtyards, connecting the practice of yoga with fresh air, greenery, and community — celebrating both the spiritual and physical benefits of the discipline.
