WINE BARREL HOUSE

The house emerges as an organic architectural expression within a working Cape Winelands estate. Conceived to integrate seamlessly with the landscape, its rounded, barrel-like silhouette echoes the vineyard's contours, curving against a dramatic mountain backdrop.

Rooted by a heavy stone plinth, the upper volume is wrapped in a continuous timber screen that filters light, frames views, and softens the building's presence. Cascading concrete steps guide guests through indigenous planting to a fully glazed threshold, where the surrounding vineyard panorama permeates the living spaces, allowing the outside in.
