The house is designed as an organic architectural statement in the landscape. Located within a working Cape Winelands estate, its rounded, barrel-like shape is meant to be camouflaged into the rolling hills, following the curves of the vineyard, against the dramatic backdrop of mountains.

The upper volume is supported by a heavy stone plinth and is wrapped in a continuous timber screen. The screen filters harsh sunlight coming through the expansive windows and softening the presence of the building Cascading concrete steps draw guests through indigenous planting toward a fully glazed living area on the ground floor— where the entire panoramic sweep of the vineyard opens up, unhurried and uninterrupted.
